SECURITY CHARGE AT
PARK AND RIDE

A security charge of $2.00 per day is now payable for all users of the Papakura Park and Ride car park at the Papakura rail station.

It offsets the cost of providing security staff at the Park and Ride.

There are a range of free all-day car parks in the town centre including the Davis Car Park at the northern end of town and the ground floor of the two-level car park at Accent Point in East Street. Farmers Car Park in O’Shannessey Street also provides for all day parking and has security monitoring services.  Read more.

TRIMMING TREES ON YOUR PROPERTY

Changes to the Resource Management Act regarding tree trimming came into effect from the 1st October 2009.
Papakura District Council has produced a guideline to help you stay within the new law and avoid prosecution.

The guide is available here

Work is now well under way on the demolition of the third floor as we prepare for construction of your new Library and Museum. This means the public access to the Library and Museum on that floor is through the safe walkway established by the contractors, and there is no access from there to the third floor toilets, which are now closed and will be upgraded as part of this project.

In the meantime, it is business as usual on the top floor for the Library and Museum, which are still open for their regular hours and continue to provide all their usual services. The public toilets and parent’s room on the top floor are also still open for your use.

Together with our project partners we are bringing the Library and Museum to street level for people entering from Great South Road. This will mean we can continue to make the most of a great location in the heart of the town centre and close to public transport while create an appealing, safe and accessible community facility.

There is still plenty of parking in levels one and two, with 155 public car parking spaces available.

Porchester Road Closure

The section of Porchester Road between Walters Road and Airfield Road will be closed to through traffic for up to 12 weeks as part of a major upgrade for the road.

Contractors working for Papakura District Council on Porchester Road are excavating and replacing the road surface. In order to complete the work during the warmer summer months, the road will be closed to through traffic from 3 March with a target to re-open with all work completed in mid-late May (weather permitting). The closure will trim up to four weeks off the duration of the work.

Access to the Addison development will be maintained for residents, but there is no through access while work is in progress.

People entering the Addison development are reminded of the presence of families and children along these roads and asked to reduce speed in this area.
